Cost Savings Engineered into G.E. Crossovers
Large steam turbines designed by G.E. have a pressure balanced expansion joint that carries steam from the
intermediate pressure turbine to the low pressure turbine. In recent years, there has been increasing pressure to
lower the shipping weight and cost of components that go into large steam turbines in response to competitive
pressure. Senior Flexonics Pathway has worked closely with G.E. to develop lower cost, lower weight crossovers
without compromising product reliability. The Senior Flexonics Pathway effort has resulted in very significant savings
to G.E.
Senior Flexonics Pathway has developed special tooling and fixtures to assemble crossovers to precise tolerances.
The tooling combined with customized manufacturing techniques develope by Senior Flexonics Pathway for
G.E. eliminates much of the fina machining that is required if traditional manufacturing techniques are employed.
